We collect the following types of information when you use Masterplan:
Account Information — Your name, email address, and password when you create an account. If you choose to sign in using a third-party service such as Apple or Google, we receive basic profile information from that provider, such as your name and email address.
Content Data — Recipes, meal plans, and collections you create or save within the app.
Import Data — URLs you submit for recipe import and any photos or images you upload for recipe scanning.
Usage Data — Information about how you interact with the app, including features used, screens visited, and session length. This is collected via third-party analytics tools.
Device Data — Device type, operating system version, and app version, collected automatically when you use the app.
Payment Data — Your subscription status and transaction history. Note: payment card details are handled directly by our third-party payment processor and are never stored by us.
We use the information we collect for the following purposes:
To provide and operate the app — Your account information and content data are used to create and manage your account, sync your recipes and meal plans, and deliver the core features of Masterplan.
To process payments — Your payment and subscription data is used to manage your subscription, process transactions, and provide access to premium features.
To improve the app — Usage and device data helps us understand how Masterplan is being used, identify issues, and make informed product decisions.
To communicate with you — Your email address may be used to send important account-related notifications, product updates, or support responses. We will not send marketing emails without your consent.
To send push notifications — With your permission, we may send push notifications to inform you of meal plan reminders, new features, or other relevant updates. You can opt out of push notifications at any time through your device settings.
To enable recipe import — URLs and images you submit are processed solely to extract and save recipe content on your behalf.
To authenticate your identity — If you use a social login, we use the information provided by Apple or Google to verify your identity and create or access your account.
To serve targeted advertisements — With your consent where required by applicable law, we may use your data to serve you personalized advertisements on third-party platforms such as social media and other digital advertising networks. This may involve sharing limited data with advertising platforms to help us reach users with relevant ads. You can opt out of targeted advertising through the settings of the relevant platform or through your device settings.
We do not sell your personal information. We may share your data with the following categories of third parties solely to operate and improve Masterplan:
Analytics Providers — We use third-party analytics tools to collect usage and device data to help us understand how the app is being used. These providers process data on our behalf and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes.
Payment Processors — Your subscription and transaction data is handled by a third-party payment processor. We do not store your payment card details directly.
Cloud Infrastructure Providers — Your data is stored and processed on third-party cloud hosting services. These providers maintain industry-standard security practices.
Authentication Providers — If you sign in with Apple or Google, your basic profile information is shared with us by those providers in accordance with their own privacy policies.
Advertising Platforms — We may share limited data such as device identifiers and usage information with third-party advertising platforms to serve you targeted advertisements. These platforms may use this data in accordance with their own privacy policies. We will update this policy with specific platform names once they have been confirmed.
Legal Obligations — We may disclose your information if required to do so by law, or in response to valid legal requests such as a court order or government inquiry.
We retain your personal information only for as long as necessary to provide the Masterplan service and fulfill the purposes outlined in this policy.
Account and Content Data — Retained for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your personal information and content data will be permanently deleted within 30 days.
Payment Data — Transaction records may be retained for up to 7 years to comply with financial and tax regulations, even after account deletion.
Usage and Device Data — Retained in accordance with the data retention policies of our third-party analytics providers, typically between 12–26 months.
Import Data — URLs and images submitted for recipe import are processed and deleted immediately after the recipe has been successfully extracted.
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal information:
Right to Access — You can request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
Right to Correction — You can request that we correct any inaccurate or incomplete information we hold about you.
Right to Deletion — You can request that we delete your account and associated personal data.

Right to Opt Out of Targeted Advertising — You can opt out via platform or device settings.
Right to Data Portability — You can request your data in a machine-readable format.
